I created these fractals for fun because fractals are so beautiful. They have not found a field of application that is as great as their beauty, but I believe that could change. For instance, I keep thinking about applying Fractals Theory to image and sound processing. One could achieve a very high compression factor and be able to use something like short wave radio signals for wireless networks... Mike suggested a great idea: decomposing small areas of an image into series of fractals, that way one can zoom into the image indefinitely without loosing quality. That would be a great way of devising digital zooms and other photo enlargement softwares! |
